Project

One of the Medici Villas most closely linked to the history of the Medici family, added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2013.
The intervention concerned the complete restoration – under the direct control of the Superintendence for Environmental and Architectural Heritage of Florence, Pistoia and Prato – of the roofs of the Villa Medicea and the adjacent buildings belonging to the Borgo called Manica Lunga and Manica Corta, for a total of over 3,500 square meters.

The restoration carried out, being fully conservative, concerned the entire structure of the roof starting from the load-bearing wooden frame, with the consolidation of the ancient beams with the help of prostheses or replacement with old restored wood.

The Villa is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The static resistance was improved by creating a metal curb inside the perimeter walls and the insulation capacity was increased by inserting heat-insulating panels above the void.
