Project

A thermal complex, dating from the Renaissance, characterised by fortified stone structures and located within the Merse Nature Reserve between the provinces of Siena and Grosseto along the Farma River.
The intervention, coordinated by Italia Nostra, concerns the restoration of the three watchtowers, the 15th-century wall, the inn, church and thermal baths.
The inn has been completely stored through a thorough renovation, both of the building and installations, and will be used as a rest and refreshment point with rooms.
The north tower and the ancient walls have been carefully cleared of weeds then reinforced using the "suci-cuci" technique, involving injections of consolidating lime mortar and the insertion of bondstones.
